The Tailored Agency is led by Duncan, a creative with over three decades of experience spanning agency, in-house, and independent practice. From apprentice to creative director to founder, his career has followed the full arc of the modern design industry.
The journey
Early 1990s
Apprenticeship
It started in the early 90s with an apprenticeship at Acorn Press, working with bromides, spray mount and film. When Apple Macs transformed design studios and ISDN changed how files were shared, Duncan was there, learning on the tools that rewrote the industry.
Mid 1990s - 2000s
Agency & Client-Side
The career moved through agency and client-side roles, managing accounts for the BBC, Rolls Royce, Lloyds Bank and the UK Government. He created and implemented EMC Corporation's first intranet, working directly with their internal IT department during the .com era.
2007
Skye Creative & Brandwave
Founded Skye Creative and co-founded Brandwave Marketing, a sports marketing agency, alongside Daniel Macaulay.
2010
Appaloosa
Appaloosa was launched as a marketing agency focused on the equestrian sector. Each venture sharpened the model, building towards something leaner and more client-focused.
2018
The Tailored Agency
The Tailored Agency launched with a clear purpose: to give clients direct access to senior-level experience without the retainer costs of a traditional London agency.
